Caribbean & Jamaican Wedding Photographer, Birmingham

Meet the Photographer
Hey, my name is SHABAAN
I’m a wedding photographer based in the Midlands, and I photograph Caribbean and Jamaican weddings because I actually understand how they work. I've been there. In the room.
I know these weddings don’t follow a neat timeline. I know the ceremony might start an hour late because that’s just how it goes. I know the food is coming out in waves, not courses. I know the dance floor doesn’t warm up until midnight and the best moments happen after most photographers have gone home.
I know your uncle is going to test the rum punch before 2pm and I know how to make sure he still looks good in the photos.
I’m not going to ask you to explain your traditions to me. I’m not going to look confused when the money dance starts. I’m not going to pack up at 9pm when the party hasn’t even started yet.
I’ve done this before. The couples loved it. And I’d love to do it for you.
Why Book Me for Your Caribbean Wedding
I Know How These Weddings Actually Run
Caribbean weddings don’t follow a 2pm ceremony, 3pm photos, 5pm dinner, 9pm done schedule. They build slowly, peak late, and the best energy happens when the dancing takes over. I plan my coverage around how your wedding actually flows, not how a template says it should.
No Clock-Watching
I’m not packing up at 9pm. If your package is 8 hours and the dance floor is on fire at midnight, we’ll talk about extending. I’d rather stay and capture something real than leave because a spreadsheet says my time is up. These celebrations run late. I know that. I plan for that.
I Don’t Need a Cultural Briefing
You shouldn’t have to explain your own wedding to your photographer. The rum cake, the money dance, both parents walking the bride, Tun T’anks Sunday, I know what these are and I know when they’re happening. You focus on getting married. I’ll focus on capturing it.
I’m Good with Your Family
Big families, loud families, families where three aunties are running the show and the couple is just along for the ride. I can handle that. I’ll make sure the group shots happen without killing the energy, I’ll get the uncle to cooperate for 30 seconds, and I’ll stay out of the way when the dance floor belongs to your grandmother.
Kids Aren’t a Problem
Caribbean weddings are family events. Kids are there, they’re running around, they’re part of it. I’m comfortable working around children and some of my favourite shots from weddings are the kids being kids while everyone else is dressed up.

What to Expect When You Book
We start with a conversation. Not a sales call, no, just a chat about your wedding, your vision, and whether I’m the right fit. If we click, I’ll send you a proposal with package options. If we don’t, no hard feelings.
Before the wedding, we’ll go through the day together. Not a rigid timeline but rather a rough shape. I’ll ask about the moments that matter most to you and your family, the traditions you’re including, and any specific shots you want. I’ll also flag things you might not have thought about from a photography perspective such as lighting in the venue, timing for portraits, where to position for the best ceremony shots.
On the day, I’m there early and I stay late. I blend in with your guests, I don’t direct the day, and I don’t pull you away from your own wedding for 3 hours of posed portraits. The candid moments are the ones you’ll treasure. The portraits happen naturally when there’s a quiet moment.
Your gallery is delivered within 6-8 weeks. Sneak peeks within 3 days so no anxiously waiting to see glimpses of your wedding
FAQ

How long do you stay?

As long as the wedding needs. My packages are based on hours but I’m flexible. If the reception is still going strong and we agreed on coverage until midnight, I’m not walking out the door at 12:01. We’ll figure out what works.

Do you travel?

I’m based in the Midlands but I travel across the UK for weddings. Birmingham, London, Manchester, Bristol, wherever. Travel is included or quoted separately depending on distance.

how much do you charge

Packages start from £750 for short elopements and £1,000 for weddings. Full pricing is on my pricing page or I can send you details when you get in touch.

What if the timeline runs late?

It will. I plan for it. My coverage is built around how Caribbean weddings actually run, not how a generic template says they should. If the ceremony starts an hour late, I’m not stressed. I’ve already accounted for that.

Tell me about your plans: the date, the venue, the vibe, how many aunties are in charge. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right photographer for your day. If you want some more guidance, read my guide here on how to plan your carribean wedding
