Editorial photography for short, intentional days

Registry Office Wedding Photographer, Birmingham

Meet the Photographer

Hey, my name is SHABAAN

Hi. I’m Shabaan.

I’m a wedding photographer based in Birmingham. I photograph registry office weddings and civil ceremonies across the city and the Midlands. Birmingham Register Office, Waterloo Town Hall, St George’s Hall, Hereford, and further afield when the brief is right.

If you’re looking for a registry office wedding photographer in Birmingham, you’ve probably noticed that most options feel like a downgrade. Budget packages, quick turnarounds, photographers who treat a short day as less important than a full venue wedding.

I don’t.

A registry office wedding is a deliberate choice; not a compromise. The couple who turns up to Birmingham Register Office with twenty people and get married in forty minutes have made a choice about what matters. My job is to photograph that decision properly not as quick as possible because of my own thoughts that it's budget, no. It's your special day and a price tag doesn't change that.

Why Book Me for Your Registry Office Wedding

I Understand Short Days

A registry office ceremony runs twenty to forty minutes. The portraits happen in the time you carve out after; venue grounds, nearby streets, wherever makes sense. I’ve shot registry offices across Birmingham and the wider Midlands. I know how to read the space quickly, find the light, and make the most of the time without making the day feel like a photoshoot. I also work with the registrar's than against them. It's their workplace, I'm visiting.

Unobtrusive by Default

Registry office weddings are smaller and more intimate than full venue weddings. This means the photographer is more visible, not less. I blend in and not by disappearing, but by not making every moment about the camera. Kayleigh’s Birmingham Register Office wedding and Dione’s parents’ Waterloo Town Hall ceremony both reflect that: natural, unforced, nobody performing for the lens. I stuck to the sides and only posed when the officiants said I could take over for the moment, not before or after.

The Work Is Editorial

Registry office photographs don’t have to look like registry office photographs. The same eye I use for destination elopements and full-day weddings applies here. Clean lines, composed frames, real moments. If you’ve been looking at other options and thinking ‘fine, but not quite right’ that’s probably the aesthetic gap this fills. Your day is your day.

What to Expect When You Book

We start with a conversation. Tell me what you’re planning; the venue, the date, the guest count. I’ll tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit.

Before the wedding I’ll go through the day with you. Venue logistics, portrait timing, anything specific that matters to you. I’ll flag things from a photography perspective so the day feels unhurried.

On the day I arrive early. I blend in. I don’t direct the day, I document it. Sneak peeks within 72 hours. Full gallery within 4–6 weeks standard, up to 8 weeks peak season.

FAQ

Have you shot at Birmingham Register Office specifically?

Yes. Birmingham Register Office on Holliday Street. I’ve shot there and I know the space. Centenary Square is a short walk for portraits. If you’re getting married there and want to talk through what works photographically, I’m happy to do that before you book.

How long do you stay?

The Ivory package is three hours and that's enough for arrivals, ceremony, group shots, and portraits. Most registry office weddings fit comfortably within that. If you want longer, get in touch and we’ll work out the right package.

We’re having a very small group. Is that fine?

Completely fine. Smaller groups are often easier as it makes more genuine moments, less wrangling for group shots, more space for the candid work. Some of the most memorable galleries I’ve delivered have been from the smallest registry office weddings.

Do you travel outside Birmingham?

Yes. I’ve shot registry office weddings in Liverpool, Hereford, and Worcester as well as Birmingham. Travel within the Midlands is included. Further afield is quoted separately but always upfront before you book.

I would highly recommend Shabaan! He was very polite, friendly and very patient. I also appreciated the fact you didn’t have him constantly in your face, it was very natural and he made myself and our guests feel very comfortable. It is easy to say he went above and beyond to make our day very special. He was also very quick on completing the photos for our special day which were all of a high quality and communicated well with us throughout.
