Couple kissing outside wooden doors during Manchester registry office wedding

Registry office. Woods. Two people getting married. That’s it.

Meet the Photographer

Hey, my name is SHABAAN

I recently photographed a lesbian elopement in Manchester. Registry office ceremony at Sale Town Hall, then portraits in the woods nearby with the couple, a dad, and a sister. One was in a suit, the other in a pink dress. Strangers on the path said congratulations as they walked past. A few people stopped and stared. At the end it was just two people getting married. Nothing was different.

That’s what LGBTQ+ elopement in Manchester actually looks like. Not a styled shoot. Not a portfolio experiment. Not a photographer who’s added a rainbow flag to their website but has never actually photographed a same-sex couple. Just a real elopement with real people, documented the same way you'd document anyone’s. With care.

If you’re planning a same-sex elopement in Manchester and you want a photographer who’s already done this, who knows how a town hall works, who knows where to go for portraits afterwards, and who isn’t going to make your wedding feel like a special category then you’re in the right place.

Why Book Me?

I’ve Done This Nationwide.

Not theoretically. Not as a styled shoot. I've photographed a real same-sex elopement at Sale Town Hall and the surrounding area. I know the building, I know the ceremony rooms, I know where to go afterwards for portraits that don't look like they were taken outside a council building. The images from that elopement are in my portfolio and on this page. I've also gone to Belfast to do the same there, and to Cardiff too. Whether it's a gay elopement, a lesbian elopement, or anything in between. I'm not a one-trick pony, and neither is your day.

Your Elopement Isn’t a Category

I don't photograph an elopement as an "LGBTQ+ elopement." I photograph it as an elopement. Gay couples, lesbian couples, queer couples, the approach is the same. A couple that found me through my general work, not through LGBTQ+-specific content but is queer won't be treated differently. My portfolio shows diverse couples because that's who I work with, not because I've curated a separate section to prove I'm inclusive. You're hiring a photographer, not an ally badge.

I Know the Reality

Most people on the street will congratulate you. Some will stare. That's the honest reality of being visibly gay or queer in public in 2026, even in Manchester. I've been there for that. I know how to photograph in public spaces where you're visible, how to find quieter spots when privacy matters more, and how to read the energy of the couple and respond to it rather than directing it

I Don’t Clock-Watch

Elopements are flexible by nature. The ceremony at Sale took fifteen minutes. The portraits in the woods took as long as they needed. The whole thing was done by early afternoon. I’m not running a timer. I’m there to capture the day as it happens, however long that takes.

I Know Manchester

ale Town Hall, Manchester Register Office at Heron House, the Northern Quarter, Castlefield, the parks, the quiet spots. I know where photographs well in this city and I know what works for gay and lesbian elopements specifically, large or small, intimate or celebratory. It's all about moving between locations without it feeling like a production.

“Shabaan was honestly amazing. He made us feel so comfortable and captured our elopement so naturally, especially the moments with our families at Sale Town Hall. He really understood the vibe we were going for and made everything feel relaxed and effortless. The photos came out beautifully and were delivered so quickly, we couldn’t be happier. Would definitely recommend!

What to Expect When You Book

We start with a conversation about your elopement. From the venue, to the timing, to who’s coming and also what matters most to you. I’ll share what I know about Manchester elopement locations and we’ll build a rough plan together. Not a rigid schedule but instead a shape. Elopements work best when there’s room to breathe. If you wanted stress, you'd book a wedding.

On the day, I arrive earlier when you do. I set up, look around, make sure I know where to stand and where I can blend in. If it’s just the two of you and witnesses I won't make a fuss or awkward or force you into weird poses, no. We keep it intimate as you wanted. If there’s family, I work around them without directing the day. My goal is to make sure the ceremony is documented. The portraits is where the magic starts. We can go to somewhere that feels right afterwards. It can be a park, the streets, somewhere quiet.

After we play about in the fields and flowers you can go and do whatever you’ve planned next, and I deliver your gallery within 4-6 weeks. I do also give 10 photos within 72 hours just so you're not anxious.

A pre-elopement couples shoot is included free if you want one. It’s a good way for us to get comfortable with each other before the day, especially if you’re camera-shy. No pressure either way.

FAQ

How much do you charge?

Elopement packages start from £1000. Full pricing is on my pricing page.

How long do you stay?

As long as the elopement needs. Most Manchester elopements run between two and four hours total. Ceremony, portraits, and whatever comes after. I’m not clock-watching.

Do you do couples shoots too?

Yes. A couples session before the elopement is included free with elopement bookings. It’s optional but it takes the edge off the camera nerves before the actual day.

What if we’re nervous about being photographed in public?

I get it. I’ll find quieter locations if that’s what you prefer, or time the outdoor portions for when there are fewer people around. I’ve navigated this before and I know how to read the situation and adjust. Your comfort comes first.
